Explanation


For anyone who doesn't know, November is National Novel Writing Month--usually abbreviated NaNoWriMo. I know several people who attempt it, but I've never tried it myself. By the end of October this year, though, I was feeling pretty terrible about my own writing output. I was hardly finishing anything, and I had a ton of ideas that I never actually worked on. You can count on one hand the number of fics I'd actually finished since the beginning of summer. On October 31st I made a snap decision to attempt my own mini version of NaNoWriMo.

Affectionately referring to the project as NaNoRyRo even though the abbreviation makes absolutely no sense, I decided I would try to write something every day, whether it be the size of a text message or a substantial ficlet. I figured it would be hard enough to write that much, so I decided to stick to what I know best: getting Ryan Ross laid. By Brendon Urie. XD I asked my friends for prompts relating to the theme of torturing Ryan with cock, and took it from there.

I didn't advertise because I wasn't sure I would be able to complete the project. I also wasn't sure how the ficlets would turn out. The month's over now, though, and there is indeed something for every single day. \o/

The pieces ended up ranging in size from 100 words to 3800. They can all be read as standalones with maybe one exception--the very last day refers back to an earlier piece. Some of the ficlets are snapshots from larger story ideas that I may or may not actually write, but I think even those can be read on their own. It's safe to assume they all contain mature content. Pay attention to the full list of prompts for each day as this also serves as your warning for any potentially squicky content. Some of the kinks are pretty serious. I'm not responsible for what you choose to read.

I make no claims as to quality; these were written on the spot, sometimes barely proofread. The goal was to write. Period. These aren't literary masterpieces, but I figured some people might find them entertaining. I'm not expecting tons of glowing praise; that's not why I did this. You don't have to comment--or indeed, read--at all if you don't want. This was, first and foremost, a personal challenge. I shared it with my friends, and now I'm sharing it with anyone else who's interested.

Oh my God, you rule for this. Firstly, because now I can MEMORY IT YAY! But secondly because I realized I actually MISSED one during the month! It was like Christmas come early.

Also, I must say that you completely owned this project. And Ryan's ass, too, but that was kind of the point, wasn't it? ;) Honestly, though, I had so much fun reading this all month, so all the props in the world to you for making November, like, the best month ever!

wow i just finished readin all of them! over a course of three days and whoa, you must but me a mop for my brain has leaked out of a my ear and is in a puddle on the floor. I was wondering why i havent seen some of these stories in s!atd but anyways i really like them.

I read everyone of them except november 13. i'm sorry i read like 4 line and then at the first metion of zac i exited out. sorry but i have a massive hateful passion against him. idky.

I'll be honest, I haven't decided yet. I've been severely writer's blocked and I haven't been able to write anything of consequence in months. I don't know if attempting NaNo in this frame of mind would be helpful or a really bad idea. /o\
